This weekend I competed in the Hawaii World Team Trials at Kewalo Basin Park on the south side of Oahu. The trials was to qualify for World’s which will be held in October, at Huntington Beach, california. Six people are chosen from every division and are looked at very closely throughout the rest of the year. Unfortunately only four people will be taken to compete in each division to compete for the Hawaii team.

Since there was only one trial event this year our placing in the event only accounts for 50% of the final decision to who makes the team. The other 50% will come out of our results at some of the big meets during the summer like NSSA nationals.

The top six girls from Hawaii are Malia Manuel (Kauai), Coco Ho (Oahu), Ashley and lani Hunter (Oahu), Monica Byrne-Wickey (Maui) and myself. I think we’re going to have a strong team this year! I can’t wait!
