| (continued from Sept. 29 journal entry)
The next day I surfed my second heat and didn't do so well. I still had fun though. My Uncle Davey killed his heat and advanced again. He ended up taking 9th in the contest, congratulations Uncle Davey! After we took a shower and changed we decided to drive into Ensenada town to do a little sight seeing. It was a pretty cool little town. I bought some Mexican jumping beans and a cute Mexican blouse. My favorite store was the candy store. It was ironic because in the candy store the guy was selling quarter sticks of dynamite and explosives for $5. Of course my dad, Uncle Tom and Davey had to buy some. Fortunately we never had the chance to light them so we ended up disposing of them in a trash can. My Aunty Lori and Grandma drove in the afternoon and we all ate dinner together. Crossing the border back to the United States was sure an adventure, we got pulled over by the Mexican police, but they let us go. Then we had to wait in line for two hours in traffic while everyone's cars were being checked. There were so many people on the road selling everything from plastic turtles to churros. It was actually rather scary. Anyways, we made it back in one piece and now I'm ready to get back to school. |
