(Before Carissa starts her journal - here's a 2 part tip on how to ride barrels. This week is part 1: though Carissa got a deep barrel here, she didn't make the wave for a number of reasons. Here's what she is doing well: her take off and initial set-up is good. She's hanging back waiting for the section instead of racing in front of it.
In this sequence her main problem is body position. Her center of gravity is not centered over the board, her head is too low and her rear is too high so she doesn't have the balance she will need to navigate properly through the section.
This sequence was taken over a year ago. She's come a long way since then. Next week, we'll put up a shot of her riding a barrel properly. Hope this helps your surfing...)

This weekend was the HASA state meet at Kewalo's, but this time I didn't surf because I didn't do any of the regular season events. It was really exciting because one of my NSSA friends Andrianna got to stay at my house. Well, enjoy the rest of your week.
