On Sunday I went to Turtle Bay on the North Shore to surf in the trials for the Hawaii team to compete in next year's World Grommet Team Championships. Turtle Bay is not one of the best spots in the world for me but some how I managed to squeeze my way into the finals.

In my first heat I placed second to Tory Titcomb. In my second heat I lucked out with first place and a ticket to the finals. Finally, the finals! The waves were a bit cleaner and more managable than the morning and I was all hyped to go out. I surfed pretty good but had a little trouble manuevering my big board. And the for the last ten minutes of my heat I got caught inside and it took me the rest of the heat to get back out. Right when I was ready to take another wave the horn blew! But I still managed second palce. Lani won, Tory thrid and Taira was fourth! Good job girls!
